Mentoring Skilled Newcomers

logo mentoring skilled newcomers

Skilled newcomers are being offered a helping hand to succeed in the local labour market.

The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie has launched a new initiative called Mentoring Skilled Newcomers. This program is designed to help newcomers connect with professionals so they can learn about Canadian work culture and develop a professional network.

Our region's future growth depends on our ability to keep job-ready and highly skilled newcomers in our community. We recognize the need for internationally-trained workers in Grand Erie, as they make valuable financial and cultural contributions.  Our mentorship program is designed to bridge the gap so highly skilled newcomers can impact our community.

Both mentors and mentees are wanted for the program. There are benefits to both mentors and mentees.

Mentees: If you are a newcomer to Canada and are highly educated or experienced your field, we can help you get your foot in the door through our mentorship program.

Mentors: If you are an experienced professional, our mentorship program gives you a great opportunity to promote your company and enhance your corporate image, help develop the future workforce in our community, and tap into the global talent pool.

If you would like more information or are interested in participating, please contact Vinesh Bhagat by phone at (519) 756-1116 ext. 223 or by email at vinesh@workforceplanningboard.org.

Information about our program can be seen by clicking on the following documents.
